THE POSITION

The Senior Director of Student Services envisions a future where every student has the holistic support infrastructure needed to achieve the highest possible level of academic, interpersonal, and career success. The Senior Director works to elevate overall student achievement & wellness by serving as a network-level leader who stewards the structures and the culture that are vital for whole-child well-being, inclusivity, and academic success. The Senior Director assesses the state of student services on an ongoing basis, identifies what we need to do as a network to improve, and builds the capacity of our schools to deliver on the promises we make to students and families. The Senior Director of Student Services will be responsible for developing, training, and partnering with leaders, staff, and systems that inform supplemental education supports for students, and evaluating, managing and reporting on implementation of programing and frameworks such as Multi-Tiered Support Services (MTSS), Restorative Justice (RJ), Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS), and Social Emotional Learning programming. In collaboration with other leaders, this position supports the goal of improving student outcomes in alignment with accountability to programmatic compliance, and the mission, vision, and graduation profile of Envision Education. Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Senior Director manages a team that includes 1) the Associate Director of College Pathways and Post Secondary Success and 2) the Associate Director of Special Education.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership:

  • Supervise a team of Associate Directors and collaborate with other leaders to integrate and streamline supports necessary for the development of supportive school climates and universal holistic and inclusive instruction.
  • In collaboration with the Chief Program Officer, establish and promulgate a vision for student services that embodies Deeper Learning and the Envision model.
  • Develop systems and staff to ensure appropriate data collection, analysis and interpretation for process and outcome metrics to facilitate continuous quality improvement and professional development.
  • Oversee and facilitate the work of the network-wide Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) leadership and implementation team.
  • Implement and monitor fidelity of best practices in universal screening, tiered support (core, supplemental, and intensive), progress monitor departmental key performance indicators and goals.
  • Direct and oversee the impact of intervention on student achievement.
  • Share best practices for student services with Envision Learning Partners (Envision’s consulting arm).

Training and Development:

  • Provide professional development in key areas of student support services.
  • Plan for cross-functional development and engagement between all constituents of student support services.
  • In partnership with school site leaders, develop and deliver differentiated professional development that aligns the network’s MTSS plan with the CA MTSS framework and expectations.
  • Work closely with the Academic Team to develop and implement high quality professional development to ensure fidelity and effectiveness of Envisions approach to Student Support Services.
  • Contribute to and positively model Envision-wide practices and values in adult learning and collaboration.

Systems Development and Management:

  • Manage the development and execution of network-wide plan to ensure the implementation of research and evidence-based practices
  • Manage the development of a system of ongoing training, implementation guidance, technical assistance and professional learning processes to support that implementation.
  • Monitors laws and regulations pertaining to directly supervised departments and recommends required policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the annual audit of site instructional minutes and intervention services to ensure strict compliance with state requirements.

Data and Communication:

  • Develop and manage systems that provide ongoing feedback to network and school staff in order to drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate and collaborate cross-departmentally to drive effective implementation.
  • Be engaged daily in self-reflective practices and seek continuous feedback from peers, colleagues and supervisor(s) to identify and execute opportunities to improve upon accountabilities.
  • Work with the Data and Assessment team to compile, analyze, and respond to data on the school’s progress to goals for intervention services.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Commitment to the mission of Envision Education.
  • Commitment to anti-racist and pro-Black ideologies in the workplace.
  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field required.
  • 5+ years of experience as Director or Associate Director of Special Education.
  • Administrative Services Credential preferred.
  • Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling (PPS) preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with California’s Social & Emotional Learning Guiding Principles, SEL Standards and holistic learning strategies.
  • Once hired, continuous current California residency.
  • Demonstrated success working with parents and families, especially Black, African American, Latino/a/x/e, and immigrant families.
  • Receptiveness to feedback and desire to continuously improve to meet outcomes.


LOCATION & VACCINATION POLICY
This position is onsite at our Support Office in Oakland, with occasional travel to our 3 school sites located in San Francisco, Hayward, and Oakland.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The salary range for this role is between $130,000-$150,000 and is dependent upon years of aligned experience and credentials.
