Counseling and Mental Health Trainee Intern

Envision Education seeks Counseling and Mental Health Trainees and Interns to work with other mental health professionals and educators in providing a diverse population of students mental health services at the primary and secondary tier of intervention (i.e., primary and secondary pre-referral consultation or drop-ins and counseling). 

The Position

Under supervision of a licensed clinician, the trainee will provide individual, parent support and group counseling to students in grades 6-12. Trainees will be a part of a comprehensive mental health team that will collaborate and support each other while providing mental health interventions for students with social and emotional challenges, either in an individual session or group setting. Will be responsible for parent and student intakes as well as possible observations and reviewing school records to formulate treatment plans. Will collaborate with the mental health team to identify and create counseling groups or curriculum to implement and support the different needs on campuses. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with parents, staff, and teachers as needed while maintaining confidentiality

Trainees gain direct experience offering an eclectic set of clinical skills which facilitates their own professional growth while simultaneously allowing the network to advance its system-wide mental health initiatives. 

  • Trainees work up to two days per week and carry a caseload of up to 5 students.
  • Interns work up to 5 days per week and carry a caseload of up to 18 students. 

In-service training is presented on a wide range of topics targeting a vast array of therapist skills such as progress monitoring, note-taking, and consultation, along with various therapeutic approaches such as CBT and DBT for individuals and groups.

QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS

  • Trainees must possess a BA/BS degree and be currently enrolled in a graduate program.
  • Interns must possess a MA/MS degree in counseling, psychology or therapy and be working towards licensure.

LOCATION
This position is onsite at one of our 3 campuses located in San Francisco, Hayward, and Oakland.

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Trainees and Interns are provided with licensed supervision
  • Counseling Interns are provided with a yearly stipend of up to $10,000 based on hours.
